- To reflect the United Kingdom, its culture and values to the world
Doctor Who and His Dark Materials help the BBC inform, educate and entertain people in different ways. They are both entertaining because they have exciting stories, lots of action and interesting characters. In Doctor Who, the Doctor travels through time and space and faces different challenges, which keeps viewers interested. His Dark Materials is full of adventure, mystery and danger, making it enjoyable to watch. Both programmes are designed to appeal to a wide audience and keep people engaged.
They also help to educate and inform viewers. Doctor Who sometimes includes real historical figures and events, so audiences can learn about history while watching. It also explores ideas about science and the future. His Dark Materials makes viewers think about issues such as power, freedom and right and wrong. Both programmes encourage audiences to think about the world around them while still being enjoyable to watch, helping the BBC achieve its aim of informing, educating and entertaining the public.
